December 2006
Review of last 6 months: Sold several Lumifonts and completed two custom
designs in my spare time alongside my demanding full-time job. First
Lumifont in granite boulder (a pig to drill!), and incorporation of UV LEDs
(more vibrant colours) and epoxy potting (simpler water-proofing) into
standard Lumifont design. So progress still possible whilst working. Hurray!
Withdrew Lumifonts from retail outlets Bygone Farm and Arty's as I had sold
the units myself. Decided to sell only from my studio from now on.

November 2006
Arty's at Chorlton: Put Lumifont on display in Chris Malec's new art gallery
venture. Great location, but probably too bright for effect.

Back to work! Owing to financial necessity, I take up a full-time position
lecturing in Laser Physics to MSc students at Manchester University.
Orrelwood Waterworks is relegated to being a 'spare-time hobby business'.
This has the benefit that development of my artistic aspirations can
continue with less financial pressure.

A city centre shopfront! Chris Malec, manager of online art company The
Art Collection, agrees to a two month exhibition of Lumifonts at his
open house art shop in the Printworks building, Corporation Street, central
Manchester. Chris says: "Art is for everyone. We believe that
for too long people have had the perception that art is for the museum, the
collector or the gallery – THIS IS FALSE. Art is not something clique and
stuffy, but something that can be enjoyed by everyone anywhere. Whether it
is in the office, the home or the pub on a Friday night!"
We say "Right on, Chris!"
